I’ve written since…well, forever. As a kid I’d write short stories and then con my younger sister into performing them for our parents. But it was in the eight grade when I realized I loved making up stories and having the characters talking to me. All because the teacher gave me an “F” on an assignment and added the blood red note at the bottom, ‘Your daughter isn’t allowed to copy short stories from magazines.’ Once my mom spoke to the teacher and assured her I had written the story myself and not copied anything, the teacher changed the grade to an “A” and told me I should consider this as my major in college.
Instead, I got married and had two wonderful children (who are grown now), and stopped writing. Several years ago I picked up the proverbial pen, okay in my case it was the laptop, and began writing again. I joined RWA, TARA, and FTHRW.
I live in sunny Florida with my own hero lovingly referred to as Science Guy (nope, he’s not Bill Nye), and our two dogs, Meshia, our Shih-Tzu, and Sassy, our Chihuahua. I write paranormal and romantic suspense. With the day job in the world of 24/7 TV using up the daylight hours, I can more often than not be found writing into the night on my next stand-alone series.
Tuesday is my blog day, but everyday here is fun, so come back often and join us. You can also find me the rest of the week at http://vickilane.blogspot.com
