Today I felt inspired to write about superstitions and traditions. On Sunday, superstitions abounded from a a couple of groundhogs who supposedly predict the weather to animals picking the Super Bowl winner If you are a football fan, you may have seen this commercial which run during the season.
Superstitions are fun. What you swear by, someone else will laugh at as ridiculous. Baseball players wearing dirty caps and men not shaving while their team is on a winning streak. Football teams place great stock in their pre-game meals
and we have our New Years food traditions. People keep lucky charms and have rituals to stave off bad mojo. It’s been this way throughout history. Why are we so superstitious? (Rhetorical question). I personally have a few superstitions I keep, while I laugh at others. I met my husband on Friday the 13th. Not unlucky for me! And I love black cats and have owned two in my life. On the flip side, I do the New Years lucky foods and will indulge in a bit of team fan nonsense now and then. I know it’s all bunk. (Or is it?) But it’s interesting to see the crazy stuff people come up with and buy into with full faith.
Do you have any superstitions?
