Summer love

I’m not talking about the man woman kind of love, well, not exactly. I’m talking about  books! It’s the time of year I plan out what I’m going to read over summer vacation.

This practice started when I was still in school and actually got a summer off, but old habits die hard. ; )

I remember one summer, I found a paper bag of old Harlequin romances. It was a summer to remember!

And a beloved friend clued me in to the fact that every book I buy is tax-deductible. I mean that’s like having your cake and eating it too. So I am giving free rein to my need to read this summer.

Okay, so this year, top on my must-read list is:

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs. If you haven’t read the Mercy Thompson series, do. Really. Do.

All the Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin. I started watching the series and decided I needed to read the books. Some of the dialog is word for word from the book. It’s amazing! I just finished A Song of Fire and Ice and bought the second one.

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews will be out this July! All that stuff I said about the Mercy Thompson series? Double it.

But what I’m most excited about is reading the books of all my fellow writers on this blog and on my Here Be Magic blog at Carina. I’m really, really hoping to get some reviews done.

Reviews are work. I have the utmost respect for Heather… I mean even when you love the book, it’s work to write everything you loved down in a coherent way.  But they are so important.

So because I work with such an awesome group of writers, I decided it was a way to say thank you for the support.

And I’ll be frank. Not getting reviews sucks. It really does. So this is kind of therapy for me too.

Yesterday, I went through the Sony, cleaned out all the documents and other things I don’t really need and prepped it for a buying frenzy!

So what are you planning to read this summer? Are there any books you’re really looking forward to.
