I don’t know about you, but with the cold weather comes awful, itchy, dry skin that drives me crazy. I’ve tried all kinds of lotions and creams, but haven’t found any that help. My skin is dry to start with, so any drop in humidity and I’m miserable.
My oldest daughter and I went to San Marcos, Texas, to visit Texas State. She’s headed there in the fall and this was an opportunity to visit the dorms and decide which one she might like to live in. Hopefully, she’ll get her first pick since I turned in the contract October 15. It’s supposed to be a first come first serve type of thing, so I’m thinking we’re pretty safe. Fingers crossed!
All the dorms we saw were impressive. I had no idea. These were nothing like the ones I remember. TV and computers in the rooms, microwaves and refrigerators, laundry in the building and no quarters required. Wow.
We had a great trip. It was so nice spending time with her alone. I only have about five short months to go. I didn’t think three hours was that far until we made the trip. But then, missing a turn and driving about thirty minutes in the wrong direction might have something to do with that. LOL
It is not so far that I thought I’d have to worry about my skin drying out though. What a mistake. With a high of about 50 degrees and the wind blowing the entire time, we were shivering quite a bit and trying to stay in the warm sunshine.
After getting home, my skin felt like I was wearing some kind of wrinkle mask. It hurt to smile. And the lotion I kept trying to put on was sucked up so fast it was as if I’d never put anything on.
Internet to the rescue! I did a search and found out you can use raw honey to hydrate your skin. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’m thinking it might be on my agenda for today. You apply it to your face like a masque, let it dry for 30 minutes, then rinse off. Hmmmm….
Once I get all the kids to school, I’m thinking about running to the store and getting enough of this stuff to soak my entire body in. LOL Desperate times call for desperate measures, right??
Anyone have a lotion they love? How about another home remedy that might not be so sticky?? Help please!
