Conference days…or is it daze?

Too much fun!

Too much fun!

Pardon my dazed look and bleary eyes. I’ve just returned from the Romance Writers of America annual conference 2013 in Atlanta. I had a fantastic time catching up with old friends and making new ones, meeting with editors and my agent, eating decadent food and generally cutting loose and enjoying being let out of the house for a few days.
I need a few days to rest my brain and synthesize all I’ve learned, follow up with new contacts made and get back on track. I’ll try to have a more informative post next time with some tips or industry news.

For now, we’ll leave it with this… The Harlequin party was fantastic as always. I got blisters on the bottom of my feet dancing with Liz Talley and crew.

Kristan Higgins’ awards luncheon speech was funny, inspiring, touching and earned a standing ovation, as did Cathy Maxwell’s the day before. The take away…don’t undervalue yourself, your talent or your contribution to the world. The world needs romance writers, artists, love and goodness to counter the negativity that is out there. Don’t let self-doubt and bullies and spiteful people win. Keep putting love and light into the world. And eat chocolate when it is offered for dessert, because it might be the best chocolate mousse you ever ate!
