Pinning Magic
I tried to stay away. Honest I did. LOL But I’ve found a new distraction and I’ve got my mom and oldest daughter hooked as well.

I know the site has been around a while and there’s been some controversy about copyrights and pinning pictures, but it’s so addictive. Not to mention helpful! Mainly because of the recipes and tips I’ve found. So far the entire family has eaten every single thing I’ve made from recipes I pinned there. I’m shocked but loving it! Who knows, I might even learn to like cooking before it’s all over with. LOL
Here’s one of my favorites. It an easy snack and no cooking required. Doesn’t get any better than that!
You take 1 package of watermelon Jello, mix it with 1 package of light lemon Jello and then add green grapes. It’s a sweet/sour snack. I know this is going to sound unbelievable, but it’s almost better than candy. Sour Patch Grapes
The possiblites are endless. You can search for anything. Need orgainzation tips? Need gift ideas? How about hair and make-up tips that really work?
Sewing has always been my mom’s favorite past time and she’s in hog heaven pinning all kinds of cool designs and patterns. I think I’ve created a monster!
Did I mention the decorating tips? Oh, my. I can’t wait to get out in my yard this spring and start trying some of these beautiful container gardens.
Do you pin? If so, what’s your favorite find?

OMG, Pinterest is such a time-killer! Add Houzz.com and you are on the road to damnation, combine the two and you are lost forever! jk, LOL!
On the plus side, you can use Pinterest as a marketing tool. I was reading an article on this recently, I’ll post -if I can remember where… The example was a regency author having a few boards on costumes and regency clothing, travel to Austen land, regency recipes, etc… And if you are already published a regency book board, featuring covers of your books or include yours… my writing has Norse mythology, so lots of Scandinavian boards
I am on a Pinterest sabbatical, nothing like a deadline to cure an addiction!

LOL Cristine! Yeah, I use it as a reward after I get my writing word count down.
Very cool about the marketing idea. I’ve got my book covers up with links to Amazon and Barnes & Noble for easy purchase.
Good luck on that deadline!!

I joined and practiced pinning a few things, but it took me too long to figure it all out. I know that may sound silly but any slightly large learning curve and I’m out. Besides I don’t need anymore time sucks in my life.
But that being said, I think if I weren’t a writer and online so often, I’d take pleasure in Pintrist. And I think I’ll try those grapes

I signed up months ago, Liz. Just recently had a few minutes to sit down and click around to see what it was all about. I don’t do twitter much because I just can’t figure it out. LOL Too quick a pace for me I guess. I bet your boys will love the grapes too!

I did set up a Pinterest account originally, but I was too concerned about the copyright issue (and my hypocrisy if I ignored it), and don’t have an interest in so many of the things it’s most loved for. My sister-in-law LOVES it. She’s doing work as a wedding planner now, and is always on the lookout for healthy recipes, so she’s in heaven.
I definitely see the value in it, and how easy it can be to lose time there!

I’ve always been crafty, Natalie. I have to be careful and not start too many projects at once on top of my writing goals. There are just so many wonderful ideas out there and this makes it way too easy to find them. LOL

I have an account. I MAY have penned three things or so but I quit messing with my account months ago. Comes down to time. I don’t have any. People who love it totally LOVE IT! I’m in the neutral category. Don’t use it much. It’s a lot like Link-In. Have no idea why I’m even there either!
Feb 04, 2013 @ 10:54:19
LOL Cyndi! I have a Linked-In account as well. Have no idea how to use it, except for more exposure. With my kids running all over the place, I’ve found Pinterest a great way to pass the time away while I’m waiting in the car to pick them up.

Melissa – I’ve stayed away from Pinterest – not because I wouldn’t like it, but because I’d like it too much!
I waste TOO much time as it is!!!
Glad you’re enjoying.

Stay stong, Laura! Avoid the temptation! LOL Like I said, I’m using it as a reward for when I reach my word count goal and it’s working great for me!

Melissa: I’m like Laura, afraid to get sucked in. And I use Evernote to clip pages I like, recipes and such. And I can share my folders with specific people if I want.
I can totally see how fun it would be to create collections of things that I find interesting in visual form. Staying away for now, though.

I think that’s the reason I’m liking it, Gwen! I’m a visual person and to have it all layed out there right in front of me, and just be a click away is so awesome!

I’m on Pinterest, but go through phases with it. Some days it’s a lot, then it will be weeks before I look at it again.
But those Sour Patch Grapes are going to be a BIG hit, I can tell…:)
Feb 04, 2013 @ 11:00:17
Hey, William! I’m in a one of those phases right now. LOL Soon it will be weeks before I look again. Yeah, that’s what I’ll keep telling myself.
The grapes are a BIG hit all right. I can’t keep them in the frig. I go to get my share and they’re all gone!!

Oh the Sour Grapes
recipe sounds fantastic, and if it’s better than candy, I’ll tryi it! Chocolate, Melissa. So glad you’re enjoying Pinterest. I’m equally bad at Facebook and Twitter, to find one more thing I’m bad at?
Got to stick with writing, but you go girl, have fun!
Feb 04, 2013 @ 11:03:33
I bet you like them, Donnell!
There are just too many ways to procrastinate online. Pick and choose. I guess that’s what we must do. LOL As long as the writing gets done, I know I’m still good.

I’m fairly new to Pinterest too, but I’ve already tried two recipes and plan on more. ; ) I guess recipes are my favorite topic.
