Hangover Remedies Part One…and I’ve Got A Print Book!
It’s the last day of 2012. Did you spend your year wisely?I had my first digital book released in February 2012. A big day for sure.
However, tomorrow will be another watershed day in my life. TEXAS TWO STEP releases in PRINT! My first “hold in my hands” single title book. The funny thing is my mother has seen my book before me. My publisher copies were delivered to my house while I gone. Unfortunately, we got snow at my house on Christmas day for the first time in 80 years! and yes, my box of books was sitting the wet snow/sleet for a couple of days. SIGH. Mom and Dad picked them up for me. Said the books were quite wet. SOB! So a begging note is being prepared to the publisher…send me another box of books! Fingers crossed.
Today is New Years’s Eve. The king of all drinking days, right? As far back as I can remember, this hasn’t been a major holiday for me…as far as celebrations go. For years we used to go to the movies and then to dinner with another couple. When that tradition died, my husband and I would do an early dinner and get home before the drunks got on the road. I’m embarrassed to admit there have been many New Years rung in long after I’ve gone to sleep!
So what about you? Do you have New Year’s Eve traditions? Party? A kiss at midnight? A drink or two or three to celebrate?
I promised a hangover remedy, right?
Remedy #1 – Don’t drink!
Or at least limit your alcohol intake. That’s the best way hangover remedy.

I’ll be taking that advice to heart, but I have to admit it’s rather tempting after surviving 5 days without power. I hope they can get you a new box of books. Congratulations!

Five days? Poor baby. I think a week was the longest for us.
I’ve sent my “OMG! Poor me. Send more books” to the publisher. Fingers crossed.

That sucks, Laura! I hope you’re all back to normal now.

I own Texas Two Step, so right there, I’ll cut to the chase. I’m so sorry about your books and the snowstorm! Argggh. Hope your publisher sends new one.
I haven’t done New Years in rowdy form in years. I worry about the drunks on the road so generally my hubby and I go out to dinner with friends and then home.
A New Years Eve tradition is Black Eyed peas. For good luck. Ever heard of it? Happy new Year, Cyndi!

THANK YOU, Donnell. That’s nice to hear.
Black-Eyed peas. Yep. We do those, along with ham, cornbread and turnip greens…although I confess that only hubby eats the turnip greens.

Oh, Cyndi, your poor books! I can’t believe the delivery people left them exposed like that! (Yes, I can. Many a package has been found sitting in the pouring rain at my house—and it was already pouring when it got there, and we have a perfectly accessible carport with full coverage. Idiots.)
I’m not a partier of any kind. I’ve almost never been drunk. I tried to help my husband finish a bottle of wine once so it wouldn’t go flat, and got to the room-spinning/nausea/headache stage, but had no hangover. I never saw the appeal, and once I actually “tried” it, see it even less.
So our tradition has always been New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with the kids. We do fondue (meat cooked in oil) and these pizza things on party rye, which were traditions of his growing up. Then we all watch something (tonight it was two episodes of Firefly) and play video games until about 11:30. Watch the ball drop, text everyone in my phone a Happy New Year, and bed!
We’re so lame.
But we like it!
Happy New Year, ENALR! May every one of you (authors and readers) have a fantastic 2013!

Not hung over. Just pooped. We host a NYE party and invite the kids as well, so we celebrate NYE around the corner of the globe, with fireworks at 9 for Brazil, 10:30 for Newfoundland (and how the manage to have a 1/2 hour time zone I do not know) and 11:00 for Jamaica. That way, people can go home early if they want without feeling they’ve missed the festivities. By 12:10, our house is empty of all but the empties.

That’s a cool way to do it, Keri!
I have to admit, I like living on the east coast, where we’re first for everything (in the U.S., of course). LOL
