Name My Bar!
It is quite possible some of you are reading this and thinking…wait a minute! Didn’t I read that yesterday? Why, yes you did! I am totally brain dead from exhaustion. I had completely lost track of the days. So my “Friday” post went live on Thursday, squashing Kari Lynn on the head. Sorry about that! Now why am I so tired?
As I mentioned in my last post, we have bought a second home in Florida, which means we will be selling our motorhome. To get it ready to sell, the inside had to be detailed to the nth degree. I’ve been on my hands and knees for a week. When I get done, there will not be an inch that hasn’t been vacuumed, polished, washed or Windexed! I don’t have before pictures (I’d die of embarrassment!) but here are some “after”
But I could use some help from you guys.
I have a bar in my current WIP. I’ve been calling it “Love ‘em and Leave ‘em” but only as a place holder as it wasn’t really an important aspect of this story. However, this bar WILL play a role in the next book so I really need a better name.
The bar is in Texas. Lots of cowboys. Country music. I need a cool name, but not something that’s cliche.
Can you help?
THANKS!
PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR OWN LIZ TALLEY!

Outlaws? Rattlers?
If there’s dancing you could call it The Boot Scoot. Or, if the owner has a wry sense of humor, go with the opposite of a country bar and call it The Savoy or something along those lines.
Just some babbling off the top of my head.

Outlaws? Hmmm Like that.

So there’s actually a bar in Texas called The Round-Up Saloon. So how about The Rodeo. You could go with the owner’s name (Mic Cowboy’s Bar). There’s the Country Dive. Lone Star Bar/Grill (if there’s food).
You probably wanna stay away from this list, since these are really places.

I have the Lone Star Diner in there already. It’s where “everybody” goes to eat after church!

South of the Border AKA: the SOB and my fave REAL bar “The Office Lounge” (fun to say you’ll be at the Office wink)

Hi Teresa. When I was in college, one of the local bars was “The Library” so when parents called, the roommate could always say, “She’s at the library” and be totally honest!

The Sugar Shack? Rocking Rooster? Scooter’s?
I’ve seen one on the lake called The Channel Marker – though that was funny – so what’s around there in the book? Any landmarks that might lend themselves to the name?
Thanks for the birthday wishes

“I’ve got friends in Low Places…Think I’ll head on down to The Oasis.” Recognize the song? Damn. Now I’ll be singing that all day!

The Filling Station! That brings back memories. The one in my college days was an actual old-fashioned service station that had been converted to a bar.
We all joke that every town in Montana has either an Oasis or a Mint Bar. Except the one I live in, now that I think about it.
We have the Pioneer. Another thought is naming it after the owner, if he’s a minor character. In Bozeman that was Little John’s.

The Filling Station is a restaurant here!
I’ve been getting posts from the Dixie Roadhouse in my facebook page. Like that one too.
ARGH! You’ve all given me too many great suggestions!

Happy Birthday, Liz!
Impressive detailing, Cyndi! No wonder you’re exhausted!
I’m too distracted (or focused in another direction) to come up with much for the bar. The only thing that came to mind was The Cat Herder. Good thing everyone else is so good at this, huh? LOL

The Cat Herder! HAHAHAHA

First and foremost, I really like your blog. Second, I’ve been reading the comment suggestions for almost an hour and I can’t even come up with a name! I really am not good with this. Good thing every one is clever with this. -.-
