Keri - thanks for the good wishes. And maybe we can send Amy pictures of the house and she can tell us what would be best for decoration. You know, online decorating by Amy. ;)

Amy - I love the house hunting part. Seeing other houses and how they are laid out was cool. Well, some of them weren't so cool.

Wow and trailer on a lake sounds like heaven. Do you guys go there for the weekends and stuff?

Beppie, I'm with you. Moving is not my happy place. I love the decorating and stuff, but packing everything. Ugh!

I would have been a nervous wreck sailing over with a house in the works. Wow

Well, I love to house hunt - still go to Open houses though the hubs says, "NO WAY." We have moved a bunch in our marriage - let's see - 6 times in 15 years. We're staying put for a while, so I just do projects. :)

We did buy lake property and put a trailer on it last year, so that's kind of like getting a new house.

Good luck - hope it all works out for you.

Have I been there. There is NOTHING as traumatic as house negotiations, on either end of the deal. Fortunately we've done very little of it (which is probably why I think of it as traumatic). We've had four addresses since we married, and only four, and we've been married for so many years it's embarrassing to say. The worst negotiations were over our house in Kew Gardens when we came to the States. It was all still in process when we sailed, and were it not for our wonderful solicitor (our next door neighbor on one side) and accountant (our next door neighbor on the other side) the whole thing would have fallen apart. They both have the permanent offer of my right arm, should that prove to be useful.

We lucked out coming here. We sold our dear old house in one morning, to be knocked down and a new splendid version built, at the top of the market, which developed weak knees shortly thereafter and (this being the Detroit metropolitan area) collapsed on its face, where it still lies. However, let me assure you that selling a house to be knocked down is the Way To Go. You just have to empty the place, which was enough of a challenge as we'd lived there 26 years. NO CLEANING!

Fingers crossed up to the elbows for you, Vicki, that all goes smoothly.
